Doin work

I have decided to implement negative punishment to help battle my fast food addiction. Every time I eat fast food I will not play xbox for that day.
I think that this method will be most effective since I will not be able to do something which I enjoy every time that I choose to eat out. This will be an immediate consequence and help to influence my choices even more. It will be very simple to implement and I am sure that my girlfriend and sister will make sure I don't play if I do eat out.

  1. Oh my, Good luck Steven!

I play XBOX a lot, at least an hour every day or so. I understand how addicting that console as well as games could be, I like the idea of you taking away one of your most favorite "passing-time" activities every time you eat fast food. Hopefully, you don't eat fast food and can rather indulge in the wonderful world of video games. I also like that you are using your girlfriend and sister to help enforce this punishment, I am using my family so having someone to reinforce always helps. Perhaps, you can also try rewarding yourself for not eating fast food, such as extra time playing or something, it always gives more of an incentive.

    Good luck!

  2. How much do you play on your xbox?

Do you have other video game consoles that you would allow yourself to play if you do eat fast food? Like the still-cool-yet-not-as-interesting-N64?

I know video games can be tough to lose, so I send my good vibes your way, my friend.

  3. It's nice that you're cutting down on playing video games. Hopefully, you aren't addicted because that can't be too healthy either. I'm just curious...are you using any reinforcements throughout your program or just negative punishment? I see how it could work with just negative punishment but are you going to be rewarding yourself for when you don't eat fast food? Or will playing xbox be your reinforcement?

  4. Hey Michelle!
MM that is a good idea for an immediate negative punishment. You must really like xbox to give it up! I think you can go a step further though, if you have another person encourage you to quit fast food by taking money away each time, or maybe have a positive reinforcement by checking your BMI (body mass index) which will surely decrease after a brief period of time that you don't eat fast food. GOod luck!

  6. Ooops sorry Steven, when I was commenting I thought this was Michelle's blog. I meant:

"Hey Steven" instead of "Hey Michelle"

    Sorry about that!
